1.0 Installation:
-----------------

  For both versions (Windows 3.1 and 95/NT) the setup is done automatically.
  You just have to double click on the SETUP.EXE file.  The default directory
  is "DRIVE:\Program Files\TheOther".  You can change that directory and
  select something in your root directory.


2.0 Running the program
-------------

  In Windows 95, go to the START button and select from PROGRAMS,TOBE.  
  You can also create a shortcut by right-clicking anywhere on your screen
  and selecting NEW and then SHORTCUT.  The Shortcut Wizard will direct you.
  Once you have the program icon on your screen you can double click on it
  every time you wish to start the Other Internet Package.

  In Windows 3.xx, you can place the program icon in one of your existing
  groups.  You select NEW from the FILE menu item and complete the steps in
  the dialog box that appears on your screen.

  When you run the program for the first time:

      - the file theother.ini will be created in the windows directory
        where PROGNAME is the name of the executable
      - FOLDERS, CACHE and TEMP directories will be created in the directory
        that theOther was installed into

  Set your mail and news properties by selecting the SETTINGS command under
  the OPTIONS menu item.

  There is also a SETTINGS Wizard under the same menu item.  If you are not
  sure about the information you need to provide, you can use this Wizard to
  assist you.


3.0 How To
----------

  Open the Help File, select the How To section.  Alternatively, read the
  various Help Screens as they provide detailed information about the
  functioning of the program.  However, it is the hope of the developers of
  this program that you would be able to complete most tasks without
  consulting the Help Files.


4.0 New features
----------------

  The new name... TOBE.


  The 32-bit version supports Netscape plug-ins whereas the 16-bit does not,
  at least for the most part.  There are some ill-behaved programs that may
  not work.  We hope to solve this problem by the next version.  You also
  have to note that most plug-in programs expect to find Netscape.exe in
  order to install as they were developed to run with Netscape only.
  Consequently, installing one of these plug-ins requires the existence of
  Netscape Navigator on your hard drive.  Once the installation is done,
  next time you start TOBE, it will go and check which plug-in programs
  have been installed and will make the necessary configuration changes.

  This version also introduces signatures in mail and news. You can either
  prepare a text file or edit one on-the-fly and have it attached to all
  your messages.  Just select the Options button in Mail or News windows.
  This version also fixes several bugs and formatting erros and introduces
  server-pull animation.

  Another significant feature is the ability to turn off graphics while
  browsing.

  Mail and news reading is made easier with this version, especially for
  people with higher screen resolutions.
